When you use Votto, we collect the following information:
If you create an account, we also collect your email address and store a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.
Your responses power the aggregate distributions and comparisons visible to all Votto users. Your identity attributes enable lens-based filtering so users can see how different groups responded to a question.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your email address or individual responses with third parties. We may share aggregate, anonymized, non-personally-identifiable data with content creators, media organizations, or research partners.
We use a US-based analytics tool to understand how people use Votto. It collects anonymous usage events (such as page views and button taps), device type, and browser information. It does not collect your name, email, or response content.
Votto relies on a small number of US-based third-party services for hosting, authentication, database storage, and anonymous analytics. These services process data on our behalf and are subject to their own privacy policies.

Votto uses a single session cookie to identify your browser and maintain your session. This cookie is set securely and is not accessible to third-party scripts.
We also use your browser's local storage to save your responses and preferences (such as theme) locally. This data never leaves your device unless you create an account, at which point responses are synced to our database.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
We retain your data for as long as your account exists or until you request deletion. Anonymous responses from users without accounts are retained indefinitely as part of aggregate datasets but are not linked to any personal information.
You can request deletion of your account, email, identity selections, and response history at any time — either through the Account Settings menu in the app or by emailing us. We will process deletion requests promptly.
We do not sell personal information. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what data we collect and to request its deletion under the CCPA.
Votto is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will note the updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of Votto after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
